Home & Hospital FAQs

Home care encompasses a wide range of both medical and non-medical care services provided to patients in their own homes. Patients who choose home care include seniors, disabled or medically frail adults and children, individuals with chronic illnesses, and individuals recovering from surgery.

According to the American Medical Association, there has been a recent "paradigm shift in medical care delivery from hospital based (nursing home) care back to home-based care, and "in an increasing number of situations, home care can be considered the 'first option. At home, patients draw upon the strength of family and friends, maintain independence, and stay out of the hospital.
